Iranian film ‘Silence, the Cochlea’ has bagged awards at the Iranian Film Festival (IFF) - San Francisco in the US.

The film about people with hearing loss won four awards at the 2022 edition of the event.

Behrang Dezfoulizadeh’s directorial debut grabbed best feature film, best directing, best cinematography and best actress awards.

‘Silence, the Cochlea’, also known as 'No Sound', is a social narrative of a woman and a mother who is oscillating constantly between her emotions and her logic.

The film depicts a deaf couple who are looking for a cochlea implantation for their deaf kid.

Hanieh Tavassoli, Mehran Ahmadi, Mohsen Kiaee and Pedram Sharifi are the main members of the cast.

Launched in 2008, the IFF is “the first independent Iranian film festival outside of Iran”, according to website of the event.

It is an annual event that showcases “independent feature and short films made by or about Iranians from around the world”.

The festival is aimed to “support the Iranian film and culture in the Iranian-American community of the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond”.

This edition of the festival took place on September 17-18.
